Cycle 1

Cycle 1 comprises:

Montessori kindergarten

in Zurich, district of Wollishofen

Montessori primary school

in Zurich, district of Wollishofen

We believe that the principles of the Montessori educational method are invaluable, especially at a young age. This is because children aged 3 to 9 years are full of energy and have a virtually unquenchable thirst for knowledge. These are ideal prerequisites when it comes to helping them develop more initiative.

In our Montessori kindergarten and Montessori school, we teach in German and English, always taking account of students’ cognitive, musical and creative abilities as well as their social skills. This allows them to learn about different forms of communication and cultures through play. We also ensure they get enough physical activity to burn off surplus energy. All this not only has a positive impact on their future school careers, but also throughout their entire later lives.

As a licenced Montessori school (1st cycle), we work according to the principles of Montessori pedagogy and thus promote personal initiative and confidence in one’s own learning abilities.

The principles of the Montessori teaching method

At our private school, we adhere to the principles of the Italian educational reformer Maria Montessori. The ideal that we strive to achieve in doing so is to develop capable, intelligent, helpful individuals with a healthy sense of self-confidence. We do this to help our charges exploit their full potential in order to grow into society and find their place there.

A culture of learning in keeping with the times

Everybody harbours the natural desire for independence and to expand their horizons. Findings from the fields of psychology and neurology show that an inspirational environment supports this impulse. For this reason, we attach a great deal of importance to striking a balance between leading, demanding and self-determination. The Montessori teaching method is perfect for achieving this.

Respect and openness as guiding motives

Aside from the principles of Maria Montessori, we are bound neither by an ideology nor by a religious belief. Instead, we advocate an open mind towards other cultures as well as mutual tolerance. We also regularly organize mediation sessions for our students to learn how to deal with conflict.
