Does my child learn the most among same-aged peers?

Not necessarily, mixed age learning opens up one’s perspective.

Contact to same-aged peers is essential for  children and adolescents to learn and achieve mental and physical abilities. But the exchange with younger and older peers can be just as important for personal development. At Lipschule, we make sure that neither is neglected.   

There is no question that the division of classes is generally a sensible invention. It makes it easier for teachers to test the knowledge a child brings with them. This way, there can be enough prepared material available to the student and to define learning goals, which can be achieved.

For this reason, we have the middle school and secondary school in a mix-aged learning environment. This means: Within the respective levels, the students share the same classrooms, regardless of which class they belong to. The older students help the younger ones learn the subjects at a deeper level. By doing this they learn to take responsibility and acquire important social skills. They also can profit by refreshing previously learned information. Another benefit is that children and adolescents can skip or repeat a grade without having to leave their familiar social environment.
