On May 6. 2021, SRF played the documentary film «Mein Leben und der Notenschnitt» ( My Life and the Grade Point Average), a topic that has been close to our hearts for a long time: The disadvantages of the classic grading system for assessing a student’s performance. This is the reason why over ten years ago we decided to change to a solution- and competence orientated method.
The report followed four six graders whom were close to transitioning from primary school to secondary school or gymnasium. An important time, as it is about your future school career. Even though they all had different strengths and weaknesses, they all had one thing in common; They all suffer from being completely put down to their grades.
The protagonists do not seem to be individual cases, otherwise the broadcast of the documentary film wouldn’t have had such an impact on the media, parents and teachers. If you are also one of those people who got food for thought, then you’ve come to the right place. The Lipschule model shows that it can be done differently. Contrary to previous prejudices, the school performance of our students does not worsen due to the lack of grades but on the contrary. The transition to further education is also guaranteed, provided the potential is there. Contact us on +41 44 480 08 80 or lip@lipschule.ch, we are happy to provide you with more information.
